Recent rule changes mean that items containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs) cannot be disposed of in our skips — which pretty much rules sofas out. Instead, we can collect these items separately with a small charge per item. If, however, your sofa is a metal or wooden frame with removable cushions, you should be able to use our 4-yard skip (or larger if you have additional waste) to place just the frame into. Small home improvement projects, such as taking out old kitchen or bathroom fittings, can create a variety of waste to dispose of. Our 4 and 6-yard skips are ideal for small renovations, while larger construction projects such as extensions or demolition work might require an 8-yard skip to handle all the rubble and earth associated with such work.
Mattresses are items we can accept in our skips but at £40+VAT for each mattress, so please let us know if you wish to use our skips to dispose of these items. In terms of skip size, it depends on the mattress. For single-size mattresses, our 6-yard skips should do the trick, while bigger or more oversized mattresses may need to go in a slightly larger skip. Being able to fold down and compress a mattress with heavier waste on top could help you save space.
Skips for garden waste clearance are dependent on the type of waste and the size of your garden. For tidying a small garden, including hedge trimmings, grass and leaves, you may only need our 4-yard skip, but for all those items plus larger items, like an old shed, we recommend 8-yard skips.
A garage clearance is no easy task since you’ll likely be digging through some long-forgotten items and weighing up what you want to keep and what needs to go. The truth is, it depends on the type and amount of waste you have in your garage. We offer both small and medium skip sizes, with a 4 or 6-yard skip better to clear lots of small items or for a few heavy items, while 10, 12 and 16-yard skips give you a bigger capacity if everything has to go and you have multiple bulky items.
